Daniel's father is none other than Leslie Grantham, a legendary figure in Albert Square. Daniel, who portrays the much-loved character Reggie Jackson and has Down's syndrome , is the son of the iconic BBC soap actor who played Den Watts.

Daniel made his debut on Call the Midwife in 2017 when his character moved to Poplar to live with his uncle Fred Buckle, portrayed by EastEnders star Cliff Parisi, following the death of his mother. Leslie Grantham, Daniel's father, famously portrayed Dirty Den in two significant periods starting in 1985 and again in 2003, the Mirror reports. Leslie was one of the original members of Albert Square alongside his wife Angie Anita Dobson and their adopted daughter Sharon Watts.

The pair were the first landlords of The Queen Vic when the soap premiered on BBC One in 1985. Den's character was killed off in February 1989 but made a notorious comeback in 2003. Leslie was written out of the soap two years later when Den's latest wife Chrissie Tracy Ann Oberman murdered him, this time for g.
