BBC Breakfast host Sally Nugent made a candid work admission on Wednesday's show. During the latest instalment, Sally, 53, and co-host Jon Kay were talking about the latest headlines, where chat got onto sleep due to a new study reported in today's (9 October) newspapers. The study, published in the journal Plos Biology, was carried out by researchers from Aalto University and the University of Oulu, both in Finland, where it is claimed that a poor night's sleep could influence your brain for up to two weeks.

Jon, 54, said: "One subject we're all obsessed with here, the entire team, is sleep. It's the first thing we talk about every morning, how did you sleep last night? You had a bad night's sleep?" To which Sally admitted: "Oh, Sunday night Jon, I did the programme Monday morning on an hour's sleep didn't I?" with Jon joking: "An hour? You lucky thing!" Sally continued: "I know, it was really not good! It was just one of those nights where you can't sleep." Asked if she's caught up now, Sally insisted: "Definitely!" However, Jon was quick to point out a new detail from the sleep research report as he said: "Well, maybe you haven't!" as he explained that the findings found that a bad night's sleep can take up to two weeks to catch up on again.
