BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty was involved in a chat about “broken promises” – just a day after news broke that she’s landed a new role away from the show. Presenting from the red sofa with her co-star Charlie Stayt , Naga wasn’t too pleased with weatherman Matt Taylor, who had promised sunshine and dry spells as we see out the end of August and head into September. Naga took offence to the cloudy image in the backdrop of Matt’s segment.

She fumed: “Now, Matt has promised...

Look, look, this is what you do! You promise us sunshine – which is what you did, what, half an hour ago? And then this happens! What’s happening?” Quick to defend his forecast, Matt insisted: “I’ve not broken my promises, honestly. But just to let you know, there are still some fog patches out there – we’ve been talking about them all morning!” The tense moment was off-set by Matt's report, which thankfully did promise some sunshine to see out the summer. It comes after Naga announced she's taking on a new job away from the Breakfast sofa, on BBC radio.

She'll be replacing Nihal Arthanayake on the Must Watch podcast. Nihal has quit after eight years on the show. She'll be working alongside current stars, TV critic Scott Bryan and Hayley Campbell, on the show.

Naga will help guide listeners through the best and worst of TV and streaming content, offering advice on must-see shows. While Naga hasn't yet commented on her new role, co-star Scott announced her arrival on X - f.
