BBC Breakfast is going through more changes as the morning show continues to be disrupted by coverage of the Olympics. Regular Monday morning presenters Jon Kay and Sally Nugent were nowhere to be seen this morning. Instead, regular weekend presenter Ben Thompson filled in for the duo.

He was joined by Sarah Campbell as they delivered today’s latest headlines. They were joined by BBC Breakfast favourite Carol Kirkwood , who shared today’s weather, as well as sports presenter John Watson , who shared the sad news that cricket legend Graham Thorpe has died at the age of 55. The presenter shake-up wasn’t the only change to the BBC morning show’s usual programming, either.

As BBC’s coverage of the Olympic Games began at 6:45am on BBC One this morning, the breakfast show was also forced to switch channels mid-broadcast. This is the same format the breakfast show followed last week and was criticised for cutting out vital segments like the local news and weather reports.

However, BBC Breakfast underwent another major change at the weekend. Ben was also front and centre in the BBC studio for Sunday morning’s show, but his regular co-star, Luxmy Gopal , was missing from the sofa. Most read in News TV Viewers at home noticed the changes and quickly took to X, formerly Twitter , to discuss the presenter shake-up.
