Antiques Road Trip is a much-loved British TV show that first aired in 2010, bringing together a team of well-known antique experts who have become fan favourites over the years. One of those experts is Paul Laidlaw. The beloved Scottish auctioneer is best known to fans for his appearances on BBC shows including Antiques Road Trip, Bargain Hunt, and the celebrity spin-off Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.

Born in Edinburgh in July 1967, Laidlaw initially pursued a degree in mathematics at the University of Edinburgh with dreams of working for NASA. However, his love for travel and adventure led him down a different path into the world of antiques and auctioneering. After gaining experience at H&H Auction Rooms in Carlisle, Laidlaw launched his own auction house, Laidlaw Auctioneers and Valuers, in 2012.

His extensive knowledge of antiques has earned him a reputation as an expert in the field, culminating in record-breaking moments on Antiques Road Trip, including a remarkable sale of a sub-miniature camera for £20,000, bought for just £60. Outside of his career, Laidlaw lives in Carlisle with his wife, Maureen, and their three children, twin boys and a daughter. For Paul, quality time with his family is what truly brings him joy.
