The 61st edition of the Bathurst 1000 has finally arrived and motorsport fans have been treated to a glorious opening day with a busy schedule at Mount Panorama. The Bathurst Street Party kicked off proceedings in excellent fashion on Wednesday night, but Thursday is all about the cars hitting the track for the first time and providing insight into who will be crowned as champions in the coming days. 20pm AEDT with all drivers testing out the track, before co-drivers have the second practice session to themselves from 4.55pm AEDT. Outside of the Supercars there is a packed schedule with the V8 SuperUtes, Heritage Touring Cars, TGRA GR Cup, Porsche Carrera Cup and the Dunlop Series all in action in practice and qualifying session.

The first incident of the four-day of racing arrived on Thursday morning as 21-year-old driver from nearby Orange Cody Burcher thankfully walked away unscathed from a potentially nasty crash. Burcher is a rookie and is leading the Dunlop Super Series 3, and the car is expected to be repaired in time for the second practice session.
