At the age of 8, Bart became an apprentice to hair care and design by taking a train to Pompeii to volunteer helping a professional hairdresser around his shop. At the age of 14 he arrived by boat to a port in New York City and began the process of earning his US Citizenship. He graduated from Gloversville High School in 1962.

During his years he ran track and field, cross country and was a bowler. He was voted "best looking" "most popular" and "best physique" among his high school peers. Bart had an incredible sense of humor and many friends.

He attended Troy Beauty School in the fall of 1962 then earned an advanced hair style training certification in New York City studying at Charles of the Ritz on Madison Avenue. In 1963, he began his profession then opened up his own business "Bart Anthony's Coiffures" then later called "Bart Anthony's Hair Studio" both in Gloversville. He remained in business through June, 2024 (61 years).

During this time Bart was also in the National Guard 1963-68, came out as an E-5 sergeant. Bart was one of the original five members who started the Miss Fulton County Pageant and worked for the Miss Fulton County Pageant doing hair for ten years. Bart was also a member of the Gloversville School Board of Education for six years 1978-1983.

In 1995, while still doing hair, he opened up Oak Tree Landscaping and gardening remained his passion. He particularly enjoyed landscaping for the dental offices of Dr. Andrew Levine.
