WEBSTER GROVES – Balkan Treat Box and its sibling cafe Telva at the Ridge will reopen "soon" after a temporary closure, the restaurants announced. Both venues are closed Wednesday. Balkan Treat Box was closed Tuesday due to “unforeseen circumstances.

” In a joint announcement Wednesday, both restaurants said they had suffered a loss and were taking “time to grieve.” “We’ll be back soon, and we appreciate your patience and support during this difficult time,” the announcement said. Loryn and Edo Nalic founded Balkan Treat Box in 2016 as a food truck and opened the brick-and-mortar location in 2019 at 8103 Big Bend Boulevard.

The restaurant, which features Bosnian, Turkish and other Balkan fare, has received local and national attention. This year, Loryn Nalic was a James Beard Award semifinalist in the “Best Chef: Midwest” category . Telva at the Ridge debuted at the beginning of this year at 60 North Gore Avenue.
