Monday, October 7, 2024 The 9th UN World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism is set to take place on November 18-19 in Manama, Bahrain, under the theme “Gastronomy Tourism: A Catalyst for Economic Diversification and Inclusion.” This forum marks its inaugural session in the Middle East, gathering global leaders, policymakers, industry professionals, and acclaimed chefs to discuss how gastronomy tourism can drive economic growth, inclusivity, sustainability, and a positive image for destinations. Celebrated chefs join tourism leaders In collaboration with the Basque Culinary Center (BCC) and hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain, the forum will feature discussions with Tourism Ministers and industry experts from around the world, including Middle Eastern nations.
Notable chefs like Chef Alejandra Espinoza of Somos Restaurant in Ecuador and Chef Rudolf Štefan of Croatia’s Konoba Pelegrini will be among the speakers. Tim Brooke-Webb, Managing Director of 50 Best, will also attend, fostering dialogue on the role of gastronomy in cultural and economic empowerment. The event will showcase initiatives that highlight the importance of product origin and quality, such as Jordan’s “From Farm to Fork” project, promoting sustainable culinary practices, and France’s Collège Culinaire, renowned for its commitment to preserving culinary traditions.
