The return of a classic thriller to Blackpool Grand Theatre has been announced. Stephen Daldry's multi-award-winning National Theatre production of J.B.
Priestley's An Inspector Calls will be back at the theatre in February next year. This time, it will be featuring a new cast of top West End performers. The show will run for one week only from February 25 to March 1.
Tim Treloar, Jackie Morrison, Jeffrey Harmer, Tom Chapman, Leona Allen, George Rowlands, and Alice Darling will all be part of the cast. Daldry's production has won 19 major awards, including four Tony Awards and three Olivier Awards. It has been seen by more than five million people worldwide since it first opened in 1992.
The story follows Inspector Goole's unexpected arrival at the prosperous Birling family home, where he investigates the death of a young woman, shattering their peaceful dinner party. The production is set to challenge the very foundations of their lives and prompt audiences to examine their own consciences. Stephen Daldry, a renowned director, has been at the helm of this production since its inception.
He said: "It’s a work from a younger version of yourself." The production has been touring almost every year since 1992. Mr Daldry said: "What I love about the play is how it is perceived each time it's done; how the audience reacts.
"It always seems to be a play for today - a play of our times in one way or another." Tickets for the production are available from £17.50.
