Dedicated bookworms braved the outdoors and camped out overnight in order to get their hands on the latest instalment in a popular fantasy book series. Dozens of fans took to the streets to line up for Rebecca Yarros’ latest book, Onyx Storm, on Monday night. Video footage captures the moment fans, armed with blankets to rest on, set up camp outside Dymocks on George St in Sydney to purchase the sequel of bestsellers Fourth Wing, and Iron Flame.

Staff clapped as the doors opened at midnight, with happy book lovers sporting Fourth Wing totes checking out the new book as more staff members unpacked copies straight from boxes on the shop floor to meet the demand. “We marked the release at our Sydney store on the stroke of midnight, joined by excited book lovers eager to grab one of the first copies in Australia,” Dymocks wrote on Instagram. “Thanks to those that joined us for a fun night of all things dragons, music and mayhem.

” The series follows Violet Sorrengail, who’s ordered by her mother – a commanding general – to pursue becoming a dragon rider amid the kingdom’s raging war. The fantasy series features the popular enemies-to-lovers trope highly sought after by the modern day book lover. It’s also known for steamy scenes, with one Aussie grandma admitting the “sexy” scenes in Fourth Wing made it difficult to fall asleep.
