Wednesday, August 28, 2024 Aurigny’s newly leased ATR-72 has gracefully completed its inaugural flight, arriving in Guernsey from Madrid this morning. The aircraft, acquired through a wet lease from Spanish airline Swiftair, landed just after 07:00 BST and has already begun servicing passengers on routes to East Midlands Airport. This wet lease arrangement encompasses not just the plane, but also the crew, maintenance, and insurance, ensuring seamless operations.

Aurigny, the States-owned airline, anticipates the ATR-72 will enhance its fleet until mid-October, when a fifth permanent ATR is set to join the ranks. In a recent social media update, Aurigny celebrated the arrival of the new aircraft, highlighting its role in revitalizing the airline’s schedule. The highly experienced crew, previously operational in the Azores and with Flybe, brings exceptional expertise to the operation.

The integration of this wet-leased aircraft follows a rigorous process of safety inspections, regulatory approvals, and permits. Aurigny’s strategy of incorporating leased planes aims to streamline its fleet and bolster reliability, addressing recent disruptions and delays with renewed efficiency..
