New information has emerged about the heartbreaking death of a Canadian Walmart employee. The 19-year-old woman, who was found dead in the Halifax, Canada store's walk-in bakery oven on Oct. 19, has been identified as Gursimran Kaur , according to NBC News .
Kaur and her mother had moved to Canada from India about two years ago, with mother and daughter both working at Walmart together, per the outlet. According to a GoFundMe set up for Kaur's family by the Sikh Society, her mother was the one who found her daughter in the oven after she had been unable to locate Kaur for over an hour. "The first day I saw her was the day the incident happened," Halifax Maritime Sikh Society board member Satnam Randhawa told NBC News.
"She was really distraught. She was really in great pain." Kaur and her mother regularly attended the Sikh Society worship centers, and as Randhawa told NBC News, its members are working to fly her father and 10-year-old brother, both of whom are still in India, to Canada.
Audio of the 911 dispatch call detailed the tragedy, with a dispatch officer telling first responders in the audio obtained by Daily Mail , "Female is locked in an oven in the bakery. Oven is on, unsure if the staff are able to turn it off." A first responder on the scene noted in the audio that they shut off power to the oven, and that "the person was out of the oven upon arrival.
