Jaipur: The increasing incidents of stone pelting on vehicles in the tribal regions of Banswara and Dungarpur have raised serious concerns among travellers. The attacks , occurring on state and national highways, have made journeys, especially at night, risky. Recent police investigations indicate that most of the incidents are carried out by local youths with the intention of robbing.

On Saturday night, another such incident occurred on Chiwana Road in Banswara. A group of 8 to 10 men attacked a car driven by Sonu Chauhan, a resident of Barodiya village in the Bagidora area. The attackers hurled stones at the vehicle, shattering its rear windshield.

Fortunately, Chauhan escaped unharmed and later recounted the terrifying experience to local residents, who expressed growing anxiety about the increasing frequency of the attacks. Just a day earlier, on Friday, a couple travelling home from Udaipur found themselves under attack near Kareta village in the Arthuna area of Banswara. The youths involved in the attack pelted the couple’s car with stones.

The couple narrowly escaped by speeding away and immediately reported the incident to the police. Swift action from law enforcement led to the arrest of four youths and the detention of two minors. The issue came into spotlight recently when the car of BAP MLA Jaikrishn Patel was attacked on August 15.
