Prayagraj: The Allahabad high court on Thursday granted one more week to the counsel for Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to file its reply in a suit seeking ASI survey of Agra ’s Jama Masjid , claiming that remains of idols of Thakur Keshavdev, which was worshiped in Krishna Janmabhoomi, were buried in the mosque after it was attacked by the army of Aurangzeb in 1670. Plaintiff had also requested for appointment of advocate commissioner in the case for survey of the Jama Masjid. Passing the above order, Justice Mayank Kumar Jain directed to list this case on August 12 for the next hearing.

The court also granted time to the counsel for the Hindu plaintiffs to file objection to the impleadment application filed by Committee of Management Shahi Masjid Idgah. In this application, the committee of Shahi Masjid has requested the court to make it an opposite party in this case. The court passed this order while hearing one of the 18 consolidated suits related to Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah case, which was filed in the name of deity Thakur Keshavdev Ji, Maharaj Virajman Mandir Katra Keshavdev, through his devotee.

The Hindu plaintiff in the suit has claimed that Aurangzeb had demolished the temple of Keshavdev in 1670 and buried the idol under the Jama Masjid in Agra.
