Renowned as one of London’s great creatives and a key Central Saint Martins alumni, Delhi-born, London-based Ashish Gupta marked 20 years of his eponymous label last year. Renowned for his cross-cultural influences, high-octane glamour, and expert craftsmanship, Gupta and his colourful sequins have continued to be a fixture on red carpets around the world, spreading joy through art and clothing. Following the demise of Matches Fashion he left London for India to be close to his family and factories, “it was very therapeutic actually” he told Vogue in September .
“Because making the clothes is the best part of this for me. And the workshop in India was like an ideas lab: We tried something new every day.” Upon returning to London for fashion week, re-energised with a new collection and a wider plan for the brand, Gupta is diving straight into a new retail plan, launching a standalone website for Ashish for the first time in its 21-year history.
The website launched last week with a specially curated selection for the upcoming season. Presenting a 24-piece selection that includes some of Gupta’s own favourite pieces from AW24, the website debuts a range of wearable knitwear and statement dresses alongside more colourful pieces. The launch also features 6 re-issues of Ashish’s iconic SS14 shopper bags.
