Liverpool ’s victory at Crystal Palace on Saturday saw Arne Slot become just the fourth manager in Premier League history to win their first four away matches. It has been an excellent start to life in England for the Dutchman, who was filling huge boots as he replaced Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield hotseat. Diogo Jota scored the only goal of the game at Selhurst Park as the Reds extended their lead at the top of the Premier League, with six wins from their first seven matches.

It could have been even better as the only defeat Liverpol have suffered so far under Slot came in shocking fashion as they were beaten at home by Nottingham Forest. However, their away form has been immaculate and the win at Palace puts Slot alongside quite an unusual collection of other Premier League managers. The only other bosses to win their first four away matches in the Premier League are Felipe Scolari at Chelsea, John Gregory with Aston Villa and Bobby Gould at Coventry, report Opta.

Slot also becomes the first Liverpool manager ever to win as many as nine of his first 10 games in charge of the club. Clearly it is a fabulous start from Slot but Scolari, Gregory and Gould did not go on to great things in their Premier League stints, so it is just a start for now. However, the Dutchman is righftully enjoying himself as he secured top spot for his side as they head into the international break.

‘It definitely is [very satisfying]. And it’s actually also quite special if you know how many grea.
