February 24, 1926 - September 3, 2024 Beloit, WI - Arlene J. "Polly" Peterson, 98, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 in Beloit Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 24, 1926 near Lime Ridge in Sauk County, WI, the daughter of William and Anna (Nussbaum) Yarroch.

Polly attended grades 1-8 in county schools and graduated from Lime Ridge High School in 1943. She was employed by the Lemonweir Telephone Company. Later she completed her training at Milwaukee Accredited Beauty College in Madison.

She was a beautician in New Lisbon before marrying Peter Peterson on August 16, 1947 in St. Paul's Catholic Church, New Lisbon, WI. He predeceased her on January 21, 2017 after 69 years of marriage.

Beloit became their home when Pete joined the Beloit Public School system as an elementary teacher and principal. Polly continued as a beautician with Lorraine's and Norma's Beauty Shops. She then went to work for Beloit College running the print shop for 18 years and retired from there in 1984.

She and Pete were avid travelers having visited 49 of 50 states; Norway, England, and the Caribbean. She loved golfing and was a league player at the Wagon Wheel and Krueger-Haskel courses; winning quite a few trophies, as well as a hole in one. Polly enjoyed winning at cards and belonged to two card clubs.

She was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Marian Guild. Polly was a proud Senior Bowler, member of the Beloit Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and spent many.
