The police are appealing for information as a part of an investigation into a sexual assault on a train towards the city centre. British Transport Police (BTP) said the sexual assault was on a train from Bolton to Manchester before midnight on July 20. (Image: BTP) BTP said a man boarded the service at Farnworth Station before bothering a woman who was already on board the service.

Someone intervened but the man came back to commit the sexual assault. The police are appealing for information as a part of an investigation and, in particular, they are asking to speak to this man seen in a blue bucket hat and a blue jacket at around the time of the incident. We take all reports of violence against women and girls seriously.
