Mark Smith was left taken aback in the latest episode of Antiques Roadshow , after a guest arrived with a series of medals. The expert gave plenty of information about the backstory of the possessions, which included several medals and a record book, which once belonged to one of the airmen involved in the Dambusters bombing raid. Mark was visibly impressed by the items, telling the guest it was a "privilege" to be presented with them.

He went on to reveal that the possessions, which belonged to the guest's father, are worth around £80,000. The Antiques Roadshow star then added: "It's been an absolute pleasure to meet your dad today, so thank you so much." The guest was visibly emotional as he learnt more about The Dambusters Raid and what some of the writing in his father's book meant, as well as the story behind his medals.

The Dambusters Raid, also known as Operation Chastise, was a bombing mission by the Royal Air Force in May 1943, that targeted dams in Germany's Ruhr Valley. Mark's valuation was the last to be shown in the episode, which aired on Sunday, 22 September. The roadshow visited Thirlestane Caslte in the Scottish Borders, where the experts were presented with a number of incredible items, including the war medals.

Susan Rumfitt was pleased to see a Scottish agate bangle, which Gordon Foster was presented with a fighting knife that dated back to the 1600s. Elsewhere, Charlotte Riordan saw some rare works by Scottish artist Richard Warwo and Marc Allum saw a co.
