1 2 Pune: Wednesday evening’s 45-minute downpour led to the same old issue of waterlogging in Yerawada, Kalyaninagar, Vimannagar, Wadgaonsheri and Koregaon Park, among other areas in the vicinity, because of poor civic planning , lack of long-term solutions and clogged drainage systems. The unresolved civic issues have been plaguing citizens and resulting in flash floods in many areas adjoining Nagar Road in the recent past. The heavy spell of rain around 4 pm disrupted daily routine.
The waterlogging caused heavy traffic congestion between Yerawada and Vimannagar. Chairperson of Team Swachh Kalyaninagar (TSKN) Rachana Agarwal said, “Long-term solutions need to be explored to avoid repeated waterlogging. This is global warming and its ill-effects.
Resultantly, extremely heavy rainfall over short periods is being experienced. Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has no proper or progressive planning in place. It’s high time they took an experienced team of experts on board to rectify the situation.
