Anne Hathaway sent has into a state of hysteria when she confirmed she was set to film Princess Diaries 3, reprising her role as Mia Thermopolis. The 41 year old actress, who shot to fame for her role in Devil Wears Prada, took to Instagram to confirm the news. She posted a video clip of herself counting to three with snippets from the first two films, where she is seen along with Julie Andrews saying "shut up!" When she got to three, Anne repeated the phrase as she blew a kiss to the camera.

She then captioned the post: "Miracles happen. Back to Genovia with @adeleblim @disney @somewherepictures. The fairy tale continues.

" Both Anne and Julie first starred in the first film back in 2001 and reprised their role in the 2004 sequel. Both films were directed by the late Garry Marshall, who tragically passed away in 2016. Princess Diaries 3 will be directed by Adele Lim, who is perhaps known for Crazy Rich Asians.

Speaking to Variety magazine, she said: "As a diehard fan of the original Princess Diaries, I’m beyond excited to be a part of bringing the third iteration of this beloved franchise to life. We look forward to celebrating its core tenants of female power, joy and mentorship with audiences worldwide. On the back of her confirmation, fans were quick to comment with one saying: "Thank you for such wonderful news, I honestly still can't believe it.
