Vadodara: Councillors of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) are facing the ire of citizens who were marooned during the recent floods . Reports of councillors being forced to leave places have started trickling in from various parts of the city. Councillors of the ruling BJP were at the receiving end of public ire at Karelibaug, Salatwada and other areas of the city.

Outburst against them at most places pertained to help not reaching them when they were marooned. Residents of the worst affected areas are also furious about elected representatives not reaching out to them when they needed them the most. In Sama, BJP councillors objected to former opposition leader and Congress councillor Ami Ravat coming to the area.

Ravat had gone there after she saw work going on to open up a stormwater drain. She had been raising this issue for a long time. When some societies in the area got waterlogged, it was decided to remove the slab.

The BJP councillors initially raised the issue of Congress councillor Pushpa Waghela and another Congress worker taking credit on social media for the work to open the storm water drain. They then asked Ravat why she had come to the area and objected to her presence there. The decision of the VMC to distribute food packets and water bottles through councillors also raised eyebrows, after a Congress member was unable to help some residents of Ward 4.

He was told to approach a BJP councillor. We also published the following articles recently Five AAP .
