Monday, November 11, 2024 Cambodia’s tourism industry is witnessing an impressive revival as year-end 2024 approaches, with foreign tourist arrivals at Angkor Archaeological Park projected to reach nearly 300,000 by the close of December. This boost in visitors signals a promising resurgence for Cambodia’s tourism sector, one of the key economic drivers in the nation. Since early November, ticket sales for international tourists have risen by an estimated 50% compared to October, and this momentum is expected to continue as the peak travel season brings an influx of visitors, particularly from Europe.
In anticipation of further tourist growth, Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism has organized the “Cambodia-China Travel Fair” in Siem Reap province, scheduled for December. This event aims to enhance tourism collaborations, particularly with China, while promoting Cambodian culture and attractions to a broader international audience. Ticket sales at Angkor have surged significantly since November, with numbers climbing from around 2,500 daily in October to between 3,500 and 3,800 in early November.
This upward trend points to a stronger-than-expected tourism recovery for Cambodia. Director-General of Angkor Enterprise, Ly Se, shared these updates with the media on November 8, expressing optimism about reaching between 120,000 and 140,000 visitors per month in November and December alone. If this pace holds, Cambodia’s tourism sector will end 2024 on a high note, benefitin.
