Southport is such a beautiful town. It’s the perfect place for families to come and make happy memories. It makes people smile.

Someone in Manchester asked me last week - should we still come and visit Southport? The answer is a resounding yes. Southport is one of the friendliest, most welcoming seaside towns in the UK. We welcome more than 9 million visitors a year.

We love giving families a warm Southport welcome. In recent weeks Southport has been in the news for the saddest reasons possible. It has been heartbreaking to see.

The huge community response has shown how much local people care; both after the tragedy in which three young girls died and after the ensuing riot. Everyone went and lent a hand. The mess was cleared up pretty quick.

So how can visitors help? Come and visit. We guarantee you’ll get a warm Southport welcome. Come and stroll along Lord Street.

Enjoy a ride on our Victorian Carousel. Walk through the Botanic Gardens. Enjoy the rides at Pleasureland.

Book tickets for the 100th anniversary Southport Flower Show, the 14th Southport Comedy Festival, the spectacular musical fireworks. You’re welcome to pay tribute too if you like. There are flowers, toys and cards in the Town Hall Gardens and on Hart Street.

Why not ‘pay it forward’? (Image: James Speakman) Children have been badly impacted by the horrific events of the past fortnight. Why not treat a family to a kids theatre show at the Little Theatre of The Atkinson. Or a ride on the Carousel.
