Amy Dowden's twin sister, Rebecca, has spoken candidly about experiencing "a sense of guilt" while the Strictly Come Dancing pro faced her breast cancer ordeal and dealt with Crohn's disease. Diagnosed with aggressive stage three cancer in May last year, Amy underwent multiple chemotherapy sessions before doctors declared her free of cancer a few months ago. Despite this, she will require monthly injections for the next five years.

In an intimate discussion with The Times, the sisters delved into their bond and how Amy has managed living with both Crohn's and breast cancer. Rebecca shared her feelings, saying: "It's hard being a twin not to feel a sense of guilt. I've lived a carefree life.

I did all the things you should do as a youngster - going on my first girls' holiday, going to university, travelling - but because of Crohn's, Amy never got to do those things." Expressing her deep empathy during Amy's health struggles, she continued: "When she got her cancer diagnosis last year I would have done anything to take the pain from her. There's almost nothing we don't share, but being a midwife I'm careful about how much I talk about my job because I'm conscious that, after cancer treatment, Amy has her fertility journey ahead of her.

" "It just doesn't make sense to me that we shared a womb yet she has been given so much to deal with." Fans of Strictly Come Dancing are counting down to seeing Amy's return to the show for her eighth series this year after she was forced to with.
