Welsh Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden has candidly reflected on her health journey and spoken about her weight gain. The professional dancer, 33, first found a lump in her breast the day before going to the Maldives on her honeymoon with fellow professional dancer Ben Jones. She was subsequently diagnosed with stage three breast cancer and had a mastectomy before undergoing chemotherapy.

It has been a long journey for Amy, who missed out on the 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing while she was recovering, and she is now back training for the 2024 series. Speaking very candidly on Instagram, Amy said: "I am proud of my body. Still working on my fitness, working on getting my dancing back to where it was, it is a new body.

My body went through so much...

I gained two stone in weight and it was fine, it was what my body needed to go through in order to survive.
