The Amherst Rotary Club will host its annual Wing Walk event from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.

m. Sept. 11 during Walkin’ on Wednesday in downtown Amherst.

During the Wing Walk, guests can sample chicken wings from different establishments in the downtown district and vote for their favorite. According to Rotary president Jeri Leigh Siss, the competing restaurants include Ghost Tree Brewing Co., Cole’s Public House, D’Tutanelli’s Pizza, Ziggy’s Pub and Restaurant and The Brew Kettle.

“There’s going to be a lot to do that day for people when they go down there,” Siss said. Tickets are $25 per person, with a limited amount available during Walkin’ on Wednesday. Patrons will receive a checkmark on their tickets at each establishment upon entering.

Each person will receive two chicken wings to sample, then vote for their favorite of the five choices at the Amherst Rotary table on Park Avenue during the event. “We’ll give a fun, little trophy to the establishment who is the winner,” Siss said. “This is the first year that we’re actually doing a trophy.

” The community has supported the Wing Walk since its inception, she said. The challenge supports not only the local restaurants, but the mission and projects of the Rotary Club in Amherst, Siss said. “People are always down for something new and interesting, so we’ve seen a really good response to the concept of the Wing Walk challenge,” she said.
