The pair first met when Kalani reviewed Dean’s flagship St Andrews restaurant Haar earlier this year, when the US influencer said his signature lobster dish was “life-changing” and went to meet the chef the next day to tell him in person.
They stayed in touch and became friends, so with Kalani and his wife Sav back in Scotland filming more food reviews, Dean invited him back to St Andrews to go out with his local lobster fisherman, then follow the catch from boat to kitchen to plate. Kalani, 26, from Mount Juliet near Nashville, told The Record: “The wild thing is Dean taught me on camera how to cook his signature lobster dish, which he has never revealed before. “That was a surprise and kind of a big deal for me – I didn’t expect he would let me show that.
“So this video on my YouTube channel does have a real educational element too as well as the ent.
