Fans of American Idol are concerned about the upcoming Season 23 following the latest update. Carrie Underwood has replaced Katy Perry and is set to officially make her return to the hit ABC singing competition show that helped launched her career, this time joining the judging panel with Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie . Viewers are now getting more and more hyped up for the new season after a November 11 Instagram post revealed it'll premiere on March 9, 2025.

“On March 9, new #AmericanIdol judge Carrie Underwood joins Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Ryan Seacrest on the season premiere on ABC & Stream on Hulu!,” read the official caption alongside the video. However, while fans were initially thrilled with the update, some had concerns about the show coming back later than in previous years. “Why so late!? That feels like forever away!,” one person wrote.

“The season is starting late this year,” another agreed, as a third added: “March is too far away." American Idol has been known to air in mid-February over the last few years. Still, it’s important to note that when the show was initially rebooted on ABC, that first season (technically Season 16) premiered on March 11, 2018.

Fans are already looking forward to the upcoming season to see how Underwood fares as a judge, years after she became the show's first winner. Returning to the show that launched her career has reportedly come with price, a smaller salary than Perry ever received . Life & Style reports tha.
