Monday, September 16, 2024 American Airlines is set to expand its presence in Mexico by introducing a new direct route in the first quarter of 2025. Starting March 5th, the airline will offer direct flights from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Tampico International Airport (TAM). Operated by Envoy Air under the American Eagle regional brand, the flights will utilize the Embraer E170 aircraft.

Bookings for this new route will open on September 16th, 2024. Currently, there are no direct flights between Dallas and Tampico, as airlines like Viva Aerobus, United Airlines, and Mesa Airlines require a stopover. American Airlines’ new direct route will significantly enhance travel options for passengers, providing a seamless connection between Dallas and Tampico.

The new service will increase the total number of Mexican destinations served by American Airlines to 31. This year, the airline has already added Tulum and Veracruz to its growing list of destinations in Mexico. American Airlines, including its regional brand American Eagle, currently operates flights to 30 cities in Mexico, including popular destinations such as Cancun, Mexico City, and Puerto Vallarta.

The addition of Tampico reflects the airline’s commitment to serving the robust leisure market in Mexico. In 2023, American Airlines operated 63,268 flights between the United States and Mexico, carrying 9.74 million passengers and covering over 10.
