I’m playing with a premise that we are better able to enjoy things in our everyday lives when we dedicate more time to enjoying things in our everyday lives. Certainly. That’s obvious.

It’s that simple. And why do I continuously need to remind myself? Many life moments deserve our time. A sit-down meal with friends, quality time with the cat, a walk among the fall leaves.

None of these can be done honorably when done in a hurry. I’ve enjoyed plenty of things quickly. However, I think I would have enjoyed those things plenty more if they had been done slowly.

This week I flipped through some images from last year to create more memory on my phone. The fall colors were amazing last year. I must have coaxed every work friend to take a walk in November 2023.

In a few of the pics, a pal and I are literally rolling around in leaves. Why wasn’t November 2024 as beautiful as November 2023? Did the long, hot summer change the chemical composition of the leaves? Was the summer so long and hot that the leaves were slow to change colors? Nope. This year was also beautiful.

I simply did not take as much time to notice, and now the rains may wash my leaves away. Related Articles Home and Garden | Congregating cats | Sow There!
