Former Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata says has been forced to leave his new luxury home after the local mayor put his security at risk. Morata, who captained Spain's Euro 2024 winning squad , left Atletico Madrid for AC Milan over the summer. He found a property in Corbetta, around 20 miles to the west of the city of Milan.

The problem arose when Corbetta mayor Marco Ballarini celebrated the arrival of the 31-year-old father of four, who split with his wife Alice over the summer. Ballarini offered a warm welcome to the new arrival, but things didn't go exactly as planned. Corbetta's population, at the last official count, was a little over 18,000.

And, after discovering a large number of that population were aware of his presence, Morata felt he could no longer stay. "Dear Mr Mayor, thanks for violating my privacy," the striker wrote in an Instagram story. "Thankfully I don't have anything of value.

"The only treasures I have are my children, whose security has been jeopardised by you. I thought that the town of Corbetta could afford me a certain amount of privacy. "Instead I find myself having to move house straight away, thanks to your inabilities to use social media and to safeguard your citizens.
