Two women were driving an allegedly stolen Mercedes Benz through East Ipswich yesterday afternoon with police in pursuit. But their alleged joyride came to an end when it crashed into 85-year-old Doreen Hayes' house just before 5pm.

(Nine) "There was just this loud bang and I thought 'what's happening?'," she said. "The mess, it was carnage," TBuild's Clayton Grant said.
"It was leaning up against the house, yeah it caused a bit of damage to the house." Hayes found the crash had destroyed her car and carport, narrowly avoiding significant damage to her home. "Devastated," she said about the damage.
