Pune: A slugfest erupted between MP Supriya Sule of NCP (SCP) and Rupali Chakankar of NCP, who is also chairperson of the state women's commission, in support of the two candidates contesting for the Wadgaon Sheri seat in the upcoming assembly election from either of their parties. Sule had alleged on Nov 9 that the sitting MLA from the constituency, NCP's Sunil Tingre, had sent a notice to NCP (SCP) chief Sharad Pawar for taking his name with regards to the Porsche Taycan accident case in May this year. Responding to this, Chakankar on Sunday counter-targeted the opposition candidate nominated by NCP (SCP), Bapu Pathare, saying he has been accused of molestation and mental harassment by his daughter-in-law.

Chakankar asked Sule, "Is giving a ticket to such a person your way of honouring women?" Meanwhile, after Sule's comment, Tingre clarified that the notice had been sent to all three alliance parties of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and not any individual. Pathare, on the other hand, responded to Chakankar's statement saying that the 2019 case against him was entirely false. Sule's criticism of Tingre came during a campaign rally in Yerwada last week.

She said, "The 80-year-old warrior who signed the AB forms of Tingre in the previous election got a notice, saying if someone's name was taken in connection with the Porsche case, he would be dragged to court. We are with the truth, and we don't fear notices. How will the person who did not fear the notice of the ED fear yours?" Ti.
