Prayagraj: The Allahabad University administration has once again reminded its faculty members to not post anything about the university on social media without the vice-chancellor 's approval. The reminder is in view of the advisory given by the registrar to all faculty and staff in Dec 2020. During the AU executive council meeting chaired by VC prof Sangita Srivastava, it was decided that a warning shall be issued to a teacher of department of medieval and modern history Vikram Harijan regarding the matter of derogatory statements against deities.

The assistant professor has been in the limelight after making derogatory remarks against Hindu gods and goddesses. It was decided that in cases of charges of corruption, sexual harassment, non-attendance to duty, or any other action detrimental to AU's image, the person shall not be given the benefit of gratuity upon retirement. It was also decided that in view of the huge turnaround and demand for admission, the council agreed to the proposal of giving five seats for NRI wards in each course.

The admission against these seats will be supernumerary for this session and will be merged with the sanctioned seats from the next session onwards. In case there are more than five applications for a course, the selection would be made on the basis of merit under the rules framed by the admission committee. The council also approved the appointment of 123 non-teaching staff and confirmation of recently recruited teachers.
