Esta Terblanche's home in Los Angeles was left full of her beloved pets after her tragic death, according to reports. The South Africa actress, who played Gillian Terblanche in the US series, died suddenly this week at her home at the age of 51, with her cause of death yet to be confirmed. Following the tragic news, it's since been reported that Esta's house included a number of animals, including three cats, two dogs and even some prairie dogs.

The star appeared to be a big animal lover, having posted lots of photos and videos of the animals investigators found at her home in California. Claiming a third party had to collect the menagerie, a source said L.A.

County's animal control unit wouldn't take the prairie dogs -- so, as a result, police contacted a private animal rescue, which sent professionals to collect all of Esta's pets. It's unclear what's happened to the animals since then, reports TMZ . Medical responders believe the actress had been dead in the property for around a day before she was discovered.

Esta's cause of death is currently under investigation, according to her representative Lisa Rodrigo. The star shot to fame after she won Miss Teen South Africa in 1991. She then moved into the world of TV, where she got her starting role as Bienkie Naudé Hartman on the South African drama Egolim.
