Prayagraj: President of Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad ( ABAP ), Shri Mahant Ravindra Puri has suggested that Juna Akhara , the largest among all the 13 monastic orders, should be the first to undertake shahi snan. However, the proposal has been opposed by Shri Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani citing tradition. As per tradition of Kumbh and Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Shri Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani takes the royal bath first.

Giving the reason behind proposing the changes, ABAP chief Shri Mahant Ravindra Puri said "Juna is the biggest akhara having lakhs of saints. Whoever walks ahead of them feels being pushed. Therefore, this akhara should be given a chance to take the bath first.

Since the seers and naga sanyasis of this akhara would be in the front, there would be less trouble for others," said Puri. However, he added that this proposal will be placed in the akhara parishad meeting for approval. Countering his proposal, secretary, Mahanirvani Akhara Shri Mahant Yamuna Puri said there is no such major dispute on the issue, and it is just the matter of following the tradition of the sequence of akharas taking the royal bath, and there is no scope of any changes.

"This is not a matter of the number of seers in any given akhara; it is a matter related to the aradhya of the akharas. We respect everyone's deity, so everything will happen according to tradition," he said. Shri Panchayati Atal Akhara has supported the Mahanirvani Akhara.

They maintain that Shri Panchayati Niranjani.
