Aisling Bea has opened up about keeping her pregnancy a secret. The Irish star shocked fans when she revealed her pregnant belly on stage at the Big Slick Kansas City event back in June, having kept the process out of the limelight until her final trimester. The comedian then went on to announce the birth of her first child with a hilarious Trip Advisor-style pregnancy review last month.
Speaking on Lorraine, Aisling opened up about her decision to keep the milestone to herself. Chatting with host Christine Lampard, the 40-year-old revealed; ‘I was trying to keep it a secret.’ ‘And I got away with it for a while to one of those pesky kids,’ she joked.
The star agreed it’s important to go with your gut and share your news when you’re ready; ‘I think especially when a lot of your life, you talk about a lot of your life in public.’ ‘It’s like keeping something a little bit precious yourself that’s private and getting your head around.’ She jokingly continued: ‘There was a big competition worldwide, and it turns out my baby’s actually the best thing in the world.
’ ‘And it was actually only voted by me and my boyfriend ,’ she laughed. ‘But yeah we’re really delighted with the award.’ Aisling gushed; ‘She’s the best that there’s ever been.
