Tuesday, August 27, 2024 Air New Zealand, renowned for its outstanding service, has also made a significant mark through its longstanding commitment to charitable initiatives. For more than 40 years, the airline has partnered with Koru Care, a charity that creates unforgettable experiences for children facing serious medical challenges or disabilities. What began as a small effort by a handful of dedicated Air New Zealand volunteers has blossomed into a registered charity, boasting four volunteer-run branches across New Zealand.

Since the inception of their partnership, Air New Zealand and Koru Care have brought the joy of flying to over 2,000 children, making what once seemed impossible a reality. These special flights have allowed children with various disabilities and illnesses to explore new places, broaden their horizons, and create memories that will last a lifetime. For these young passengers, the flights represent far more than just a journey; they are a beacon of hope, joy, and inspiration.

A recent highlight of this enduring partnership was a scenic flight over New Zealand’s breathtaking South Island. Last Saturday, an Air New Zealand Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner departed from Christchurch International Airport with 50 Koru Care children on board. The flight took them over the stunning landscapes of Queenstown, further south to Dunedin, and along the East Coast before returning to Christchurch.
