Sunday, February 2, 2025 A new winter storm is causing major travel disruptions across Canada, forcing the cancellation of over fifty flights at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) . The storm has brought heavy snowfall, icy roads, and poor visibility , particularly impacting Metro Vancouver. Air Canada, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, Air India, and TAP Air Portugal are among the airlines affected, with widespread delays and cancellations piling up at both airports.

Passengers are urged to check their flight status as winter weather continues to create chaos for travelers. So far, 50 flights have been canceled and 39 delayed at YVR, affecting multiple airlines: Snow and icy conditions are making it difficult for planes to take off and land, with further delays expected as another round of heavy snow moves in tonight. If you have a flight scheduled, check your airline’s status before heading to the airport.

It’s not just Vancouver— Toronto Pearson is also dealing with flight issues today, although due to a different set of weather challenges. So far, 45 flights have been delayed and 17 canceled. While Toronto isn’t seeing the same heavy snow as Vancouver, winter conditions and operational slowdowns are contributing to the delays.

Since early this morning, Metro Vancouver and the South Coast have been hit with heavy snowfall, reduced visibility, and icy conditions. Snow totals are expected to reach 10 to 20.
