Air Astana is spreading its wings even further. Last week, it announced that it will launch nonstop flights from Kazakhstan's capital, Astana, to Vietnam's tropical resort island of Phu Quoc. The full-service carrier already has a service to Phu Quoc from Almaty, which commenced service on October 28, 2024.
More flights to a tropical paradise The new service will operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays using the long-range Airbus A321LR. Travelers now have the choice of traveling from either of Air Astana's hubs in Astana or Almaty with a combined frequency of eight flights weekly. The service will depart Astana's Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport (NQZ) at 21:30 and arrive at Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) at 07:45 the following day.
The return Airbus A321LR flight will depart Phu Quoc at 09:15 and arrive in Astana at 16:15. Air Astana said round-trip fares start from US$774 in economy class and $1,979 in business class. The arrival of long-range narrowbody aircraft will be made more appealing if airlines follow Air Astana's lead with its business class product Air Astana has been highly supportive of visa-free travel for travelers in both directions and Kazakhstan citizens can enjoy visa-free travel to Vietnam for up to 30 days.
