Pune: Six expectant mothers tested positive for the Zika virus on Thursday in Sangamner taluka in Ahmednagar district . A total of 10 Zika cases have been reported from the Ahmednagar district to date, while Pune district has reported 81 confirmed Zika cases . On Thursday, Pune did not report any new Zika infection cases.

The Ahmednagar district health office had started surveying all pregnant women in the area after the first case was reported in May this year. District health officer (DHO) Dr Bapusaheb Nagargoje said, “We had started sending samples from the entire taluka after the first Zika case was detected. Till date, Ahmednagar district has reported a total of 10 confirmed Zika cases, of which nine cases are among pregnant women.
