Age Concern Hampshire is providing much-needed relief for unpaid carers. With an ageing population, the number of people with dementia is on the rise, leading to more individuals taking on the role of unpaid carers. Currently, it is estimated that one in three people will become a carer for someone with dementia at some point in their life.

This often leaves carers under significant pressure, which can result in distress, anxiety, burnout and deteriorating health. To help alleviate this, Age Concern Hampshire's Care and Wellbeing Centres offer affordable day care for those with dementia. This gives carers time to rest and look after themselves, knowing their loved ones are in safe hands.

Hannah Park, head of operations at Age Concern Hampshire, said: "With the rising number of people living with dementia, it’s essential to provide support that lightens the load for unpaid carers. "Our Care and Wellbeing Centres are designed to offer both relief and high-quality care, ensuring carers get the help they need." The centres also provide stimulating activities and social interaction for people with dementia, helping to enhance their quality of life and maintain cognitive functions.
