Monday, August 26, 2024 Aeroméxico is making a significant return to the US leisure travel market with the launch of a new nonstop route between Miami and Cancun, set to begin on December 19, 2024. The route will be serviced by the fuel-efficient Boeing 737 MAX 8, featuring 166 seats—16 in business class and 150 in economy. The new daily flight, AM427, will depart from Miami International Airport (MIA) at 7:55 AM, arriving at Cancún International Airport (CUN) at 9:55 AM.

The return flight, AM426, will leave Cancun at 11:10 AM and arrive in Miami at 1:05 PM, covering the 533-mile journey in roughly two hours. The Boeing 737 MAX 8, which will be utilized on this route, is part of Aeroméxico’s expanding fleet, which currently includes 35 of these aircraft, with two more awaiting delivery. The airline also operates 20 larger MAX 9 variants, with additional orders in place, potentially bringing more capacity to this route if demand increases.

This new Miami-Cancun route adds to Aeroméxico’s growing portfolio of leisure destinations in the US. Earlier this year, the airline launched routes from Manzanillo International Airport to both Atlanta and Los Angeles, marking a significant shift in its strategy. Traditionally, Aeroméxico focused on flights between Mexico City and major US cities, but recent expansions have allowed the airline to explore more leisure-oriented markets.
