In an effort to create appealing winter travel packages and boost Crete’s attraction for Northern Greek travelers during the colder months, top travel agents from Northern Greece recently visited Heraklion and Chania. This initiative was led by AEGEAN, with support from the Region of Crete.

During meetings in Heraklion and Chania, the agents engaged with hoteliers who operate throughout the winter, exploring special group booking opportunities (such as religious tourism, educational trips, and conferences), discussing potential collaborations to promote Crete as a winter destination, and experiencing firsthand the island’s unique tourism offerings for the season. Over the two-day familiarization trip, more than 500 meetings took place between travel agents, hoteliers, and other tourism stakeholders. The focus was on delivering a lively, high-quality, and varied experience for winter visitors, ensuring sufficient accommodation options and flight availability.

Both AEGEAN and Crete’s hoteliers demonstrated a practical commitment to this goal. The agents also enjoyed an immersive cultural experience, exploring Crete’s rich history and culture and participating in authentic activities like olive oil tastings, sustainable farming, and observing local flora and fauna.
