SPAR Scotland shoppers are in for a treat this Christmas, As local bakers fill their stores with seasonal goods. Celebrating local communities is something SPAR is very passionate about, and supporting local produce and suppliers means those communities can have fresh and tasty goods they hold close to heart. The bakeries working with SPAR include some Scottish stalwarts, admired by generations of customers.

Brownings the Bakers set up shop in Kilmarnock in 1945, and Fife-based Stuart's Bakers and Butchers has been supplying cakes, breads, pies and more since 1857. Freshly baked goods from local suppliers are available in SPAR Scotland year-round, and many suppliers are creating something extra special for Christmas. Previous years have seen special gift baskets and cupcakes decorated like Christmas trees and snowmen.

And by working with local suppliers, SPAR Scotland brings treats to the whole country while being specific to regional tastes. It also means that every seasonal treat is made by a company that knows exactly how to please local customers, and who can put a regional spin on classics such as Christmas cake and fruit bread. Auld’s has been baking in Greenock for 120 years, while customers in the Dunfermline area have been “stopping for a Stephen’s” for a century and a half.

JG Ross in Aberdeenshire has won multiple awards since setting up in 1962, and Edinburgh’s Premium Bakery is proud to serve classic Scottish recipes. And Ashers Bakery has been supplyin.
