Pune: A group of citizen activists , politicians and urban planners have demanded that the increased floor space index ( FSI ) proposed in unified development control and promotion rule ( UDCPR ) be kept in abeyance for the city unless adequate infrastructure was provided. The group raised questions about provisions of the UDCPR, especially regarding additional FSI and reduction in amenity spaces. It has reached out to the Maharashtra govt demanding that it do a “rethink on FSI allocation”.
These members conducted a meeting on Monday to decide the future course of action. “The increase in allocation of FSI will make the city frightfully unsustainable and severely disrupt its infrastructure and functionality, affecting the quality of life of citizens,” said Vandana Chavan, former member of Rajya Sabha and NCP leader. The group has written a letter to the chief minister of Maharashtra, seeking his attention to their demands.
“If the FSI, which has been increased manifold, is implemented, Pune will head for a major transformation, changing the very DNA of the city.
