Aamir Khan has often spoken about the fact that he has given everything he’s got to the craft of acting and filmmaking. In a recent interview with Nikhil Kamath, actor Ranbir Kapoor said that Khan once told him how he had no relationship with his wife and children because his whole life had been dedicated to making movies. Now, during his recent appearance on Rhea Chakraborty’s podcast, Khan revealed his ex-wife Kiran Rao’s reaction to him wanting to quit films and spend more time with his family.

The actor also spoke about experiencing a mental breakdown and seeking therapy to cope with it. Talking about how his children – sons Junaid and Azad, and daughter Ira – reacted to his decision to quit films, Khan said, “When I told them three years ago that I am quitting films, their reaction, according to me, was, ‘Papa, how will you quit films? You’ve been involved like crazy for the past 30 years. You must be emotional right now and saying this.

But you will not be able to do it.’” However, Ira and Junaid understood the seriousness of the decision when Khan called a meeting with major stakeholders of his production house – Aamir Khan Productions – including Rao, to announce his decision to quit films, asking them to take the company over. But, ultimately, no one agreed to the same.
