Hump day will largely be beautiful across Southern New England with the Greater Boston area seeing partly to mostly sunny skies. However, a unique setup could make for a stray shower or two later this afternoon in an environment where rain wouldn’t typically be a factor. A high-pressure air mass will descend into New England from the north and wedge a piece of energy into the weaker area of high pressure currently in place.

What does this mean? There will likely be increasing clouds this afternoon with the chance for a very quick, light shower. Though much of the activity should remain north and west of Boston, any rain will move in a north-to-south direction instead of a west-to-east direction. Out-the-door temperatures this morning will range between the mid to upper 60s — some folks may even opt for a light vest or a long sleeve shirt on their way to work.

As the day goes on, the northerly flow will keep temperatures stalled in the low 80s across Boston and a degree or two higher farther away from the coast.
